150th Anniversary of the Fairbury Fair Paperback – February 14, 2026

It is remarkable that any volunteer civic organization can endure for 150 years. The Fairbury Fair has done so because of generations of loyal volunteers who have planned and carried out the fair year after year. Over its history, more than 1,000 Fairbury area citizens have given their time and energy to keep the fair alive.The Fairbury Fair has also adapted to sweeping changes in technology and daily life. It began in an era when travel was by horse and train, and it is hard to imagine crowds of 7,000 to 10,000 people coming to Fairbury in those early years by wagon and railroad car. The fair has survived World War I, the Great Depression, World War II, and the COVID pandemic, emerging each time with its traditions intact.With the continued dedication of future volunteers, the spirit of the Fairbury Fair will endure for many years to come and will continue to create lasting memories for Fairbury area families.
